LinkedIn limits in 2026: how much outreach is safe per account

Linnia team,

Short answer

LinkedIn doesn't publish exact limits, but most established accounts can safely send around 100 connection requests a week, 50 to 100 messages a day and view 80 to 150 profiles a day. New accounts should start far lower and ramp up over two to four weeks. Pace actions through the working day and keep pending invitations under 500.

LinkedIn is where most B2B sales conversations start, and the fastest way to lose that channel is to treat it like an email list. LinkedIn doesn’t publish its limits. They depend on how old an account is, how active it is, which subscription it has and how people respond to it. What follows are the ranges most experienced teams work within, and how to apply them across a whole sales team.

Connection requests

Connection requests are the most tightly controlled action on LinkedIn, with a cap that resets over a rolling week.

Account Per day Per week
New or newly automated 10 to 15 50 to 75
Established 20 to 25 about 100
Long-standing, high acceptance 30 to 40 up to 200

Two things matter as much as the number:

  • Acceptance rate. If fewer than about a quarter of your invitations are accepted, LinkedIn reads that as spam, whatever the volume. Target people with mutual connections and a real reason to talk.
  • Pending invitations. Keep the total under about 500 and withdraw anything older than three weeks.

Free accounts also have a small monthly allowance of invitations with a personal note, often just a handful. After that, invitations go out without a note.

Messages

Messages to existing connections are less restricted than invitations, but volume without replies still gets noticed.

  • Around 50 a day is a safe default.
  • Well-established accounts can go to 100 to 150 a day.
  • Avoid sending the same text to many people. Small edits don’t hide a template from recipients who report it.

Profile views and searches

Viewing many profiles in a short time is the pattern LinkedIn associates with scraping.

  • Free accounts: around 80 profile views a day.
  • Premium and Sales Navigator: around 150 a day.
  • Searches: free and Premium Career accounts hit a monthly commercial use limit, roughly 300 searches. Sales Navigator removes it.

A single search only returns the first 1,000 results (2,500 in Sales Navigator), so narrow your filters rather than paging further.

InMail

InMail depends on credits from your subscription, typically between 5 and 50 a month, plus free messages to open profiles. Spread InMail across the month rather than spending it in one burst.

Pace matters as much as volume

The same 25 invitations look very different sent in two minutes at 2 a.m. versus spread through a working day. To stay safe:

  1. Work inside normal business hours in the account’s own time zone.
  2. Space actions irregularly, with breaks, the way a person works.
  3. Run one action at a time per account, never several in parallel.
  4. Ramp new accounts up over two to four weeks.
  5. Count manual activity. Invitations a rep sends from their phone use the same weekly allowance.

Running this across a sales team

For one person, these rules are a habit. For a team of twenty, they need a system: budgets per account, a shared record of who has been contacted so two reps don’t reach the same person, and early warnings when an account’s acceptance rate drops.

That’s what we’re building Linnia to do. Every action runs through per-account limits set below the ranges above, paced through each rep’s working day, with an early-warning ladder that slows an account down before LinkedIn has to.

Frequently asked questions

How many LinkedIn connection requests can I send per week?

Most established accounts can send around 100 connection requests a week without trouble, and strong, long-standing accounts up to about 200. LinkedIn enforces a weekly cap that varies by account, so treat 100 as a safe default and 200 as a ceiling.

How many LinkedIn messages can I send per day?

Around 50 a day is a safe default for messages to existing connections, and up to 100 to 150 for well-established accounts. Messages that get replies are far safer than identical messages sent at volume.

What happens if I exceed LinkedIn's limits?

LinkedIn usually blocks the action first, for example refusing new invitations until the weekly window resets. Repeated pushing can lead to warnings, identity verification or a temporary restriction.

Do pending invitations count against me?

Yes, indirectly. A large pile of unanswered invitations is a spam signal. Keep pending invitations under about 500, and withdraw ones older than three weeks.
